About JSNT:
The
Jain Society of North Texas (JSNT) is a non-profit organization promoting
principles and practices of Jainism. Almost twenty years ago, it was born through spontaneous desires
and a get together of few families. Today, our society has grown to
become a Jain model society and an organized group with an active role in
the education for the youth and others, as well as providing forums for practice
of principals of Jainism.
As our members actively participate and volunteer and through prominent members in other local, social, and community organizations,
our group has gained recognition as one of the prominent social forces
in the North Texas Indian community. This can be evidenced by the singular recognition
given by the India Association of North Texas at the celebration of the 50th anniversary
of India's
independence.
Our society is located at a modest facility in Richardson, a North Texas suburb
city, and we host religious and educational activities weekly . The youth
group has become quite an active entity as they take part and provide leadership
to the regional and national YJA. We host Jain scholars, monks, and
dignitaries as they voluntarily provide discourses and help us learn and practice Jain philosophy.
The JSNT has a growing library of books, audio, and video
tapes for self-learning for the membership.
